International Hospitality Master programme Stenden awarded as one of the best master programmes of the Netherlands

According to the published Dutch national master ranking (HBO Keuzegids Master 2017) the master programme of Stenden University of Applied Sciences, International Hospitality & Service Management, is one of the best master programmes of the Netherlands for the second time in a row.

Quality seal

Course programmes and educational institutes who are awarded as best get the special quality seal. ,,If you see the quality seal on a website or a brochure of a university institute, you know immediately that the quality of the course programme is high’’ mentioned by the HBO Keuzegids. The master International Hospitality & Service Management at Stenden University of Applied Sciences received a highly positive judgment from both students and experts. This means that this master belongs to the best master programmes in the Netherlands and therefore is awarded with the special quality seal in 2016 and 2017. 


The expert opinion is based on the assessment of the NVAO, the Dutch-Flemish Accreditation Organization which provides an objective judgment of the quality of higher education in the Netherlands and Flanders. Beside the experts, the master students also gave their opinion and are very satisfied with the excellent facilities at the university. The team of professors and lecturers are very excited about this title. Craig Thompson, head of Stenden Hotel Management School stated: ,,We are delighted that, for the second year in a row, the Master programme in International Hospitality and Service Management, offered by Stenden Hotel Management School, is a top rated programme.’’

Dual degree

Mr. Thompson added ,,We consider the international nature of the programme and the opportunity to gain a dual masters through our partner institution, the University of Derby in the UK, as a real benefit for our graduates.’’ Since Stenden offers their masters students  not only one degree, but the possibility to earn a dual degree. Next to the Stenden Master of Arts (MA) students can enrol for the Master of Science (MSc). Student gain two international degrees within a 14 month period. This opportunity is offered in collaboration with the University of Derby, UK, ranked as number 1 in the Guardian University League 2015 in Hospitality, Tourism and Events.
