Meeting with a student counsellor
Before you start your studies at Stenden University of Applied Sciences, you will need to request a meeting with a student counsellor. In this meeting, you may declare that you are a professional athlete. You then discuss the possibilities for any necessary arrangements or adjustments regarding your study programme. This includes lowering the attendance requirements or being paired up with a study-buddy. These arrangements and agreements are recorded in a 'study and top sport contract' for professional athletes. This contract is drawn up by the student counsellor, in consultation with you and the course. During your studies, you are further supported by your tutor.
Should the combination between education and being a professional athlete lead to a delay in your studies, you may be eligible for financial compensation from the Profileringsfonds. You are only eligible for this if you receive student finance from the Dutch government. The student counsellor will be able to provide you with more information on this subject.
For more information regarding your application and receiving guidance and support during your studies, you may contact a Stenden student counsellor, specialised in advising professional athletes. Please make an appointment by contacting iStudy:
