Overseas students are a valuable part of our growing international identity. Thanks to its global footprint, Stenden attracts students from all over the world. The English Language Course helps these students to reach the required level of English (IELTS 6 for undergraduate programmes), and helps them to settle quickly into a new culture and study style. 

The English Language Course is given by teachers from different cultures who are mostly native speakers, qualified and experienced in second language teaching. You will benefit from their expertise and their understanding of the complexities of learning a second language at a high level, as well as the latest technology. Stenden University is also the official Cambridge examination centre for the northern part of the Netherlands.

The English Language Course enables you to:

  • Improve your English language skills
  • Learn about a problem solving method used extensively at Stenden: Problem Based Learning
  • Prepare yourself for a study at Stenden and life in Europe

The course

English

  • IELTS skills: Writing, Reading, Listening, Speaking, IELTS training
  • Other English skills: Pronunciation, Grammar, Vocabulary, Business English
  • 18 hours per week

Problem Based Learning

  • Get a basic understanding of this problem solving method
  • Learn general study skills valuable for studying at Stenden
  • Learn about Dutch culture and cultural differences
  • 2 hours per week

You will automatically receive information about this course as soon as you apply for the study of your choice and it appears you don’t meet the English requirements.

Admission requirements

To follow the English Language Course you will need:

  • High school graduation diploma from an accredited institution
  • An IELTS score of at least 5.0 or TOEFL scores of 500 (paper-based),173 (computer-based) or 60 (internet-based) or a Cambridge ESOl score FCE-C
