About the course

ITEPS offers a diverse range of subjects and a strong practical focus. You will gain extensive experience teaching at international primary schools in the Netherlands and abroad. There you will work on developing educational, pedagogical and teaching skills.

First Year

Introduction to teaching and education

The first year focuses on improving your knowledge of the English language and on providing you with the skills you need to live and work anywhere in the world. You will learn about and experience all facets of the teaching profession, with an emphasis on educational theory. What does it mean to educate? How do children think and how do you communicate with them? By teaching children in schools you will become aware of the dynamics of a classroom setting.

Year 2 and 3

More in-depth study

During your second and third year, you will develop a broad understanding of educational theory: how to get children to focus on their work and what it takes to make the classes you teach successful. You will have teaching practice at international schools in the Netherlands and abroad and learn to conduct practical research. During this stage, you also have the option to choose from a number of specialized courses.

Fourth Year

Final stage

In the fourth year, you will be given more responsibilities, spend more time teaching and increasingly work on your own. A challenging teaching practice in which you will be expected to conduct practical research, marks the completion of this stage.
